My foldable bat design originated in a daydream that I had of a necklace that could be worn open or closed – displaying this little bat awake or asleep. It took some time to design and perfect the mechanism for this little upside-down critter.  He hangs with his wings spread and his flashy, faceted moonstone heart, showing during his waking hours.  Closing his wings to put him to sleep reveals a faceted moonstone starry night. Carefully placed clasps allow him to be worn open, closed, or halfway between. I sculpted him from epoxy clay and electroformed him in copper, which I then gave an antique patina.  His cute batty face and big playful ears bring a bit of whimsy to this fun design!
